HIGH Expectations

We are HIGH.
We are queens and kings and dykes and fags.
We transition at will through space and gender and states of consciousness.
We come from far away.
We had so many lives before we arrived here.
We had never felt at home before.
We had never felt we had a family before.
We are not naive.
We have strong feelings and firm opinions.
We practice feminism and anarchism and radical nonviolence.
We want to fight dominion and oppression.
We want to smash patriarchy, racism, sexism and capitalism – together with all the macho righteousness that comes with cis white privilege.
Our weapons are pleasure and trance, listening and understanding.
Our weapons are for the lovers, for those who know that beyond the borders of our egos we are all equal.

We have many intentions.
We intend to fight gentrification and capitalism.
We intend to reclaim spaces that are supposed to be our own.
We intend to promote self-management and do-it-yourself practices.
We intend to support a dancing community made of flesh.
We intend to create safer spaces for transfeminist rituals, not for the exaltation of DJs.
We intend to share information on our experience so that it can be repeated and improved.
We intend to create a radical queer flinta-to-the-front community.
We intend to promote psychonautics and harm reduction.
We intend to end this project before it goes mainstream.

We know expectations are made to be disappointed. Still, we do have expectations:
If you hold privilege, we expect you to check your power dynamics.
If you say your politics are radical, we expect you to look above your pride and internalized guilt and go to the root of problems.
If you say you want to fight capitalism, we expect you to support self-managed spaces rather than banks or businesses.
If you say you want to state the truth, we expect you to fact-check your allegations and not to sow discord.
If you say you embrace nonviolence, we expect you to act to solve conflicts rather than clean your conscience and focus on what we have in common rather than on what divides us.
If you say you are antiracist, we expect you to include people from all backgrounds in your actions and reflections and listen to everybody’s voice.
If you say you support decolonisation, we expect you to recognize the multiple dimensions of colonialism including how it affects the media and your own judgments.
If you say you are against oppression, we expect you to be compassionate and not ignore those without a voice.
If you say you support peace, we expect you to remember that peace is not possible without liberation, freedom and equality for everyone.

And now let’s dance together to the demise of capitalism, militarism, patriarchy and dominion.
